Duke Frederick Aledon Dies

Succumbs after learning of son's death

All major news sources are reporting the death of Frederick Aledon, Duke of Regina, and his son and heir apparent, Frederick William.

The younger Aledon was killed in an automobile accident, when the car, driven by Corina Ling-Raleigh struck a tree at high speed.

The Baroness Ling-Raleigh, who served as regent for the younger Frederick after his father suffered a debilitating stroke, was also severely injured.

Questions of succession have come up, as the Duchess of Regina, Sarone Aledon has removed herself and her daughter Victoria from the line of succession, leaving no heir.

However, no major impact on government is expected as the Duke performs a primarily symbolic role.

The State funeral is planned for Sunday, and a week of mourning has been declared.

The Regina senate is expected to take up the question of succession following the mourning period.
