| The Regina Starport Authority has announced the placement of a formal bid with the Imperial Government for a Sector Naval Base. It is anticipated that this base would not only serve as the Naval hub for sector operations, but would include Shipyards capable of doing major repairs that currently require Naval Vessels to return to Rhylanor for refitting and repair.
If Regina won the contract for construction of this naval base it would mean a substantial capital investment in upgrading the existing the current starport facilities as well as the billions of credits in construction of the actual naval facilities. |
Regina would see increased construction employment during the 10 year building phase, and long term increases in employment in the service industry and shipyards that would come from a large Naval presence. It would even give Regina a more substantial edge in the increasingly competitive sector commercial trade.
Jenghe is among the other planets also placing bids for this Imperial Naval contract, and is lobbying hard for the contract. Because the competitive bidding process requires sealed bids, it is unknown how Regina's bid today compares to the bid already tendered by Jenghe. |
