| In a press release today the Interim Governor of Regina, Major General Victor Androchev, described the government’s "active response" to yesterdays robot rampage. Governor Androchev stated that the fast action by both the Imperial Marines and Starport Police greatly reduced the amount of damage that could have been done to the Up Port and its citizens. Citing the bravery and efficiency of the Starport Police in evacuating the civilians, he stated that their actions were instrumental in keeping civilian casualties to a minimum. This allowed the imperial Marines the freedom to react effectively against the robot, without endangering friendly targets. The Marines fought the robot to a standstill, so that it could be removed from the Starport. Once the deactivated robot was guided into space, the Imperial Navy engaged the target and neutralized it. This was instrumental in keeping the damage to the Starport contained. Governor Androchev commended the quick response by Mil-Tech and Ling Standard to requests for additional equipment which aided the Marines in removing the threat and protected the Starport and inhabitants. |
Reliable witnesses have described the "robot" as discharging a plasma gun and being surrounded by a flickering black ball. These witnesses stated that the robot continued to return the Marine’s fire from within the black ball.
Kelly Merton, General Manager of MilTech of Regina, stated that she sold a MilTech Continental Siege Unit to "planetary authorities" for use against a combat robot. Ms. Merton stated that although a robot equipped with a plasma gun and a black globe generator would be highly unusual locally, it is a "standard order item from various companies on Rhylanor, such as Gendyne". Ms. Merton stated that it would have done substantial structural damage to the Starport if the black globe generator had overloaded in the park." Ms. Merton noted that it was a "judicious application of force to render the robot inoperable, prior to removing it for destruction." |
